Jeremy Scott makes Moschino Mcdebut at Milan Fashion Week

Moschino has grabbed headlines worldwide this week, after Jeremy Scott made his very pronounced debut line for the brand. At first glance myself, and many others hated the collection, but after a detailed look over this bundle of prominence I am sure to say, I'm starting to fall in love.

Of course, first impressions were something in the way of WHAT THE FUCK.. Perhaps they were so desperate for attention? They plagiarised the fast food giant; Mcdonalds, in its entirety. Take away the element of McDonalds and what you have is a very clean cut, bold line of garments. A very 60's pop art implosion has dominated the design this year, and we have Scott to thank for this. Everything from iPhone cases to soda shaped handbags and even full outfits (which bare resemblance to the food chains staff uniform) bask in Jeremy Scott's trademark, I am looking out for a very public law suit to be on the way, although this is great advertising for both companies, and something they should keep mutual.

Away from the design which has no doubt captured out imaginations, you have a very plain run of tee shirts, jumpers and dresses. Of course this is only the capsule collection, but still, a very bland and boring state from a manufacturing point of view. Either way, I've already bought a couple of things online.

ALTHOUGH... It didn't end there...

Of course making McDonalds fashionable wasn't enough. The brand then went on to take well known food and drink brands, and turn their trademark, into clothes. An idea that could either go horrifically wrong, or be extremely successful. I'll let you decide on that one. Brands used include: Budweiser, Hershey's and even fruit loops. Then again, Moschino did have more of a tamed down side to the collection. For those of you not a fan of the pop art:fast food look, below are a a few images of the 'normal' run of the collection. A lot of leather and heavy branding, which ultimately left guest of honour, Katy perry being booed off the catwalk after being almost an hour late for the show.

Katy wore a black satin dress and a ladylike coat, while Rita modelled a more edgy ensemble - a printed T-shirt dress and a cheeky, leather jacket-style.

All in all the collection has found a way into our hearts, definitely a win for Moschino and Jeremy Scott. Although I think this should be a one off, something this good can only comes round once. Worry not you cheapskates, I'm sure primark or River Island will do a cheap, low scale version. If they do, and you buy them....don't ever talk to me again.

Still at the top: Westwood MAN SS14

Vivienne Westwood is if course the epitome of British fashion. She is the one designer you can always count on to defile, characterise and break the boundaries of current fashion trends. Short in short she hates modern day conventions when it comes to fashion. You can of course see that in her work, needless to say it doesn't always prevail, however this collection says otherwise.

As soon as designers think of SS collections, many automatically assume everyone will be out wearing shorts and floral prints. Being in the UK that isn't the case for most of us, and it's not for Westwood either. Forming to convention, Viv introduces her impeccably tailored suits, which are oversized, opulent and unique. The slightly oversized idea seems to be a key point with her tailoring this year. Of course paired with her signature MAN trousers, consisting if a slightly high rise jean and a slightly low drop belt, giving a very stylised feel to the outfit. In true Westwood fashion, Viv throws her beautiful and unique, signature jewelry into the mix. Not to mention the timeless and striking collection of shoes. The classic 'Orb moccasin' being one of my favourite pairs.

The rest of the collection is again oversized and slightly tailored in areas. This is a slight reminisce of her 'Anglomania' collection she did a few years ago. There is an amazing contrast this year between the shoes and the rest of the outfit. She shows us all that you don't need to match an outfit in its entirety, to make it look amazing. Yet again, this is Vivienne Westwood. A light baroque feel seems to be incorporated too, this adds a little for conformity to upcoming trend for the brand, however that's about it. The overall feel for the collection dons a true British gentleman swept over by a remarkable splash of an artistic era. A contrast between colour and monotone is also important, not to forget contrasting statement pieces alongside the beautiful tailoring, that remains, forever British.

The solitary part that I don't like, is the jumper tucked into boxers look, for me this feels like a reverse Justin Bieber. Or perhaps it's an ode to all of those wanting their ass pumped in jail. Apart from that one thing, everything else is beautiful, and if I had the money, I would wearing everything. For now I'll resort to buying the odd thing and using second had stores for the rest of my Westwood supplies. Praise London!

DKNY: a pile of old shit.

This week designers from across the world flocked to the fashion capital of the world. New York hosted its bi-annual Fashion Week for the debut of SS14 collections. Designers grabbed headlines by cancelling shows, failing to appear, and of course being more daring and extrovert than usual. However one brand that really stood out for me was DKNY, and as you can probably tell by the title, not for a good reason.

DK has been a favourite with women, year after year. However recently the fashion giant has desperately been trying to cling onto its young consumers, by adapting the brand and losing sight of the vision the label started off with. This collection we see gorgeous women, hidden by a combination of oversized denim pieces, hoodies and gym shoes. I'm not sure whether the fashion world is making a less than subtle statement about the fitness of women today, but it really is not a step in which they should be taking. It isn't however, just Donna Karen commuting this hideous offense, but it also down to a lot of high street retailers. Instead of making a fashion statement AT they gym, they are try to make the GYM the statement.

Very bad, I suggest the designers head over to their local gymbox and do a little more testing before submissing us all to this horrific tradgety.

Return of the Gentleman: Joseph Cheaney

Shoes have always been the most important part of any outfit. In particular a good pair of shoes can always tell the personality, and specifically distinguish between a man and a gentleman. The term gentleman nowadays is thrown around too much, and to fully appreciate the term. If you're reading this in sweatpants and a hoodie, then perhaps this post isn't for you.

From personal experience with this particular brand, the difference to other brands is incomparable. The first time I placed my left foot (I always try with that foot first as it's the biggest) into a pair of Cheaney Avon C Brougues/Almond Tan Grain, it felt like id placed my foot into an angels vagina. Not only the comfort was paramount, but I instantly felt ten times smarter, clean cut and respectable. If my finances could stretch, I would own at least five pairs. Below is a technical breakdown of my two favorite designs:

AVON:

Like all of the Cheaney range, these shoes are crafted of materials imported from Europe (in particular Germany and France) and are also handcrafted by the amazing team at the main factory in Northamptonshire, England. Designed as part of the 125th anniversary collection, I couldn't see a better way to honour the brand. Working for Superdry since I was 18, I've recently seen the introduction of Cheaney shoes in the flagship store. In particular these shoes, and what a difference they have made to the premium look of the brand. The colour gradient of Dark wood compliments the design of the shoes very well, giving a slightly more casual look to a formal and classic shoe.

Retails at £299.00 and comes in Almond Tan Grain/Dark Leaf

EDWIN:

Like the Avon brogue, the Edwin is constructed in a very similar manor with the same materials. The focal point of this shoe, for me, has to be the canvas detailing on the front of the shoe. This takes a leap in the opposite direction of the Avon. Being a casual brogue with a formal element, which would suit my look and lifestyle perfectly. Still conforming to the brands vision of a hard wearing and long lasting shoe, the brogue has a Goodyear wetted leather sole with an interlink rubber tip. This ensures that no water or cold with filter through the sole, ensuring you always have dry toes.

Retails at £265.00 and comes in Dark Leaf Sand Canvas/Chesnut & Navy Suede.

The whole range is of course perfection, but perhaps I'm biased, as MR Cheaney is of course a legend when it comes to my personal style. If only I could shift a payrise to buy a pair. Needless to say I endeavour to encourage all of you young and older men to purchase a pair of these timeless and lifelong shoes. They will not only vastly improve your image but they will wrap your feet in love and warmth.

Both shoes RRP at

Icon Lookback: John Lennon.

Know matter which corner of the globe you reach out to, everywhere, John lennon has, is and will always be known as one of the most prominent fashion and musical legends the world has seen. Many people know him as simply a musician, but he was far from just that. The cultural and sociological impact he had on the world was incontrovertible.

From a fashion perspective, Lennon shaped the way the world's aesthetic was formed around fashion. He made it acceptable to liberate and be yourself  and the world was hugely grateful for that, damn it I am. The one look that people remember from John lennon was of course the tailored velvet blazer! pearling a very small pin on the breast pocket and of course his signature circular aviator sunglasses.

No one can deny that Lennon had a huge impact on us all, and over the last few weeks I've even seen influences starting to creep over the past few months. Let's just hope all the comes back I sank appreciation and not some cheap rip off.
